Here is our Farm Story...

Striving to follow God's calling...

We began our farming journey after we got married in February, 2011, when we received a milk cow from our dear friends as a wedding present.  This began our desire to live as wholesome and sustainable as possible.  We have always had a great love for the outdoors, animals, and God's creation.  I, Emily, grew up on a 300 acre orchard (Eckert's) in southern Missouri, where my siblings and I spent most of our waking hours playing in the rows of fruit trees and helping Dad with whatever work he was doing.  You could also find me often in the petting zoo.  Our family loved working and playing outside surrounded by God's beauty!  Ryan, didn't so much grow up on a farm, but he has always had a desire to be working more outside than inside.  Ryan also has always had a strong pull towards God and treating others with respect and dignity.  This attribute drove him to seek this rotation-pastured-based type of farming as it focuses on treating and raising animals the way God intends.  So, God seemed to have gently called us from the beginning to seek, find, and follow Him in the humble life of farming. As we were exploring this calling in the beginning of our marriage, we were introduced to Joel Salatin by some friends.  Ryan quickly took him as his mentor and guide.  We then started our first batch of meat chickens, egg layers, and beef cows in 2012.  Later, in 2013 we started doing pastured pork.  Ever since we have always raised one or more of these groups of animals.  We know it is a calling.  There are a lot of hardships in this way of life, but there is a peace as well.  We are grateful to be asked to do this great work in healing the land and providing the best meat possible to our family and neighbors.  We pray that more will respond to this call... this beautiful way of farming.
